It is with great sadness that we share the following:
A few days ago, we lost a good Friend.

David Herman was our Friend and Colleague. He went to be with our Lord this past Saturday. His pain is gone, his journey complete.

He lived so many lives before coming to Option and I believe that it made him a better counselor. We were fortunate to have him in our lives for the last 10 years.

We at Option were his work family and we grieve his loss. We are better people for knowing him.

David taught us about Emotional Grace. He would listen to so many people in a spirit of kindness, acceptance, and gratitude. He was never judgmental; he was always open.

Amid his battle with Cancer, he decided to pursue his Master’s Degree in social work and become a Licensed Counselor. Most people would have just focused on fighting cancer; he focused on making a difference.

David had character and at times was a character. It was his charm and caring that won people over to him which gave him quite a following. In every challenge he brought light and a calm approach to problem solving. He left us with warmth in our hearts.

He loved to laugh and he loved to sing in the hallways (usually along with YouTube music videos). He fit in well with our Tone-Deaf Tidings band.

His legacy lives on in us and with the people he helped.

He never complained about his lot in life. He lived his life with grace, humor, and an unwavering devotion to helping people.

He helped so many and they loved him for it. I believe him to be a steadfast friend who will always be remembered.

I believe that we must find solace in our faith and believe that God has a plan. While we may not understand it, we must trust in Him because to be absent from us is to be with our Lord.

A few days ago, Heaven gained a new resident.
